The Company of Strangers (by Eileen Campbell)

'The Company of Strangers' is a book I picked up inexpensively in a church book sale.  It's a novel by Eileen Campbell.

The story is about a girl called Ellie who is sent to live with her rather bohemian grandmother, despite having never met her before, when her mother becomes ill. She gets to know people in the village and learns a lot about life.

I thought it was pleasant and interesting, although rather slow-moving in places.
