Driving over lemons (by Chris Stewart)

Driving over lemons by Chris Stewart
(Amazon UK link)
'Driving over lemons' is a mostly autobiographical account. It's about the author buying an old farm in Andalusia, and gradually restoring it. He does so  with the help of his somewhat reluctant wife.

The book was an immediate hit with the book-buying public. This is partly because Chris Stewart, the author, was the drummer in the band Genesis when he was younger.

However it is also a very well-written book, with plenty of anecdotes and local interest. I've no idea if every incident happened exactly as described, but having lived abroad ourselves for some years (albeit not trying to renovate an old farmhouse!) it certainly rings true in many places.

Recommended.
