Peggy of the Chalet School (by Elinor M Brent-Dyer)

Once again I picked up one of my childhood favourites to re-read. The Chalet School series by Elinor M Brent-Dyer is set in various parts of the world - the Austrian Tyrol, then Guernsey, Wales, and eventually back to Austria.

'Peggy of the Chalet School' is set in St Briavel's, a small island off the coast of Wales, in around 1950. The star of this story is Peggy Bettany, neice of the original founder of the Chalet School.

Peggy gets lost on her way to school, makes a new friend, and then most unexpectedly is asked to be Head Girl. This stirs up some jealousy and general bad feeling, and it takes a while for the problem to be resolved.

Pleasant light reading.

(You can also read my longer review of 'Peggy of the Chalet School' when I re-read it in 2011)
