The Chalet School in Exile (by Elinor M Brent-Dyer)

As a teenager I read my way through all 50+ books of Elinor M Brent-Dyer's 'Chalet School' series, and thoroughly enjoyed them - even if they did become a bit 'samey' towards the end.

However one that stands out head and shoulders above the rest is 'The Chalet School in Exile', an exciting story about the school having to flee from Austria under threatened Nazi invasion. Most of the story is about the escape itself and its consequences.

There are some very dramatic and moving moments, a slightly unexpected romance, warm friendships, and a lovely ending.

Definitely recommended.
