The Truth (by Terry Pratchett)

I do like Terry Pratchett's books. I don't know exactly what it is that makes them so appealing. I suppose it's the mixture of humorous satire, combined with sharp observation of humanity, packaged in a slightly bizarre fantasy world that explains a great deal about the planet Earth...

So when a new one is published, we have been buying them in hardback soon afterwards. I have just finished reading 'The Truth' aloud to my teenage sons, and we all very much enjoyed it.

William de Worde is the main protagonist of this book. He writes monthly gossip letters for rich people. Then he discovers that the dwarfs have created a printing press. And so, the first Ankh-Morpork newspaper gets started...

Meanwhile, Lord Vetinari has apparently committed a murder, and has been arrested. Foul old Ron and the other beggars play a large part in this story, too.  It's yet another look at life from the Discworld perspective, and we found it very enjoyable.

Definitely recommended, particularly if you have ever worked in printing or the media.
