Outside, Looking In (by Kathleen Rowntree)

Kathleen Rowntree has written several books. So it seems surprising that there's almost no mention of her on Wikipedia any of the other sites that have author biographies, other than the well-organised FantasticFiction site.

In 'Outside, Looking In', the story is about a peeping tom. This person is heard, but runs away before he or she can be spotted. This theme recurs throughout the book, as we get gradually more and more involved in the lives of the people of the fictional town of Aston Favell.

There are some caricatures, but most of the main characters are believable with various realistic needs and worries. By the time the peeping tom is exposed, it had become obvious to me who it would be. But still I thought the book was enjoyable, and was pleased that it ended on a positive note.

Recommended.
