The (fictional) Chalet School series is about a girls' boarding school which started in the 1930s in Austria. Then - due to the war - it moved to the UK for a while.
In 'The Chalet School in the Oberland', one of the later books by the prolific Elinor M Brent-Dyer, the Chalet School opens a sixth form 'finishing school' in Switzerland. A mixture of thirty-eight girls from various schools - including the Chalet School itself - learn to work and play together.
Some old favourite characters appear from previous books. There are also some new ones who struggle with the Chalet School ethos.
This book was a little different from some of the others in the series (which can get rather samey), and I enjoyed it. Recommended if you want some light teenage fiction that doesn't require much thinking.
(You can also read my slightly longer review of 'The Chalet School in the Oberland', written after re-reading twelve years later)
