The Old House at Railes (by Mary Pearce)

This book is a 19th century mini-saga by Mary Pearce.

Martin, the son of a stonemason, has lessons with an upper class family and gradually becomes friends with them. Circumstances reverse their fortunes, and the family's paths cross again.

I thought this novel was fairly pleasant if unexciting. It contains good social history, and an interesting story-line, but is probably not something I will read again.
