The Grand Sophy (by Georgette Heyer)

Yet another re-read of an excellent novel by Georgette Heyer, my favourite historical romance writer.

'The Grand Sophy' is a lot of fun. 'Little Sophy' arrives to stay with her cousins while her father is abroad. Her aunt is prepared to mother her and everyone expects to feel sorry for her - but she takes them by storm!

Sophy is not only tall and confident, she is outspoken and very determined. She has grand ideas, and also a very generous heart. She tries to extricate her cousin Hubert from severe financial worries, and she also tries to help her cousin Cecilia to find true love.

This book is fast-moving, with delightful and believable characters. Very enjoyable.

Highly recommended if you like light-hearted Regency-style romance books.
