The Innocence of Father Brown (by GK Chesterton)

GK Chesterton was a Roman Catholic writer, an expert in English literature, and also the creator of the delightful pseudo-detective Father Brown.

'The Innocence of Father Brown', which I read aloud recently to my teenage sons, is a collection of short stories featuring the well-known priest. They also, mostly, involve his reformed thief friend Flambeau.

There are some clever plots, although some are rather convoluted and obscure. There are one or two particularly unpleasant murders, but there is also some light humour.

These worked very well as read-alouds for teenagers, and we all enjoyed them, overall.

Recommended.
