Venetia (by Georgette Heyer)

This is a historical novel by Georgette Heyer.

Venetia is one of my favourite characters in Heyer's writing - and I like almost all her books, so that's high praise. She's a free-thinking and independent young lady. Howeever, she is still unmarried at the grand old age of 25, which made her an old maid in Regency times...

Venetia meets and is charmed by Dameral, a young man with a rather dubious reputation, some years older than she is. Delightful conversations ensue, amidst realistic settings, with a most satisfactory ending.

Highly recommended.

I wrote a longer review of 'Venetia' on re-reading yet again in 2010.
